they say they will not pay out until he is sworn in during january 2009.

the reason they are giving is that obama could be assinated before then
all other agencies have paid out and 1 irish man paid out in mid october as he was so sure that mccain could not win.What is your opinion of these 2 australian bookmaking syndicates?
If their bet was, that he would win the presidential race, then they have to pay out because he did win. If their bet was, that he became president, then they don't have to pay out until he is sworn in.
